Third, fourth, and already a fifth letter.

My third letter for my 365 is to one of my sister's in law.
On 1/3/2013
I told her about the weather, asked if she liked the poster I sent her for Xmass.

Fourth letter on 1/4/2013 was to my Aunt K.
I wrote about the fact that kids don't write today, and about John and Abigail Adams writing to each other so much that books have been written about them. I thought it was a shame that I had a problem with other's not writing, and yet I didn't do so myself. So, I am writing to everyone I know and plenty who don't. Everyone will see how yucky my handwriting, and spelling are.

Fifth letter was to Trisha Paytas, she is a personality on Youtube I have been watching for months. She counts as the celebrity I'll write to for this month.

I have added another letter and another C letter to my lists, "Contests." I can't recall if I have this one listed or not?
I will enter two per month and only the ones that require hand written entries.

Yep, and here is the first one.

Whew!
I have my work cut out for me.
My letters are on average 200 words each, so by the time I complete writing for this month I'll have hand written, 6,000. words.
Wow, I am getting overwhelmed just looking at it.

My real inspiration for this was watching the movie John Adams.
More about that later.

Second letter

Today I wrote to my husband's Mother.
Same card as the one I sent to my Grandma.

I charted out who I was going to write to over the next month, so as to keep track.

I will post my list up here, but I'm a little reluctant to do so, for fear that I may see all those names and fear will overpower me and I'll be buried alive by letters and stamps of my own insecurities.

I will mostly write to the same 10-20 people over the year, but I do recall seeing an online service for pen-pals  I think I should try that some time.

This is something very new and scary for me, letting others see how bad my penmanship, grammar and spelling are.

That is why I am starting off with people who know me and all my writing mishaps.

I may venture out into the bold, brave world of pen-pals, but I am  not sure.

Where is that website.

Just in case you would like to try something new and crazy, here you go...
http://www.postcrossing.com/about

If I can take the plunge you can too.

Maybe you won't be as crazy as me, maybe you'll do just one a week, or two a month?
Either way, I think doing this is no matter how you slice it is good. Words are good, writing is good, the written word is going away.

Try it, you might like it.

Letter me this.

I have thought about doing this for a while, and now I have made it official.

The written word is something that many do not have the time or constitution for.
Typing is well and fine, but I for one wonder what would happen if I were to write to others in my own writing? Would the earth shake, the clouds part, the angles dance a jig? I wonder, I wonder.

It's very simple, for every day this year I will send out one letter or one postcard hand written.

I will send most of these notes to those I know, but at the end of each week, I will send something to one of the four C's. The 4 C's are Companies, Congress, Celebrities, and Causes.

I am using this blog as I way to keep myself on track and to see where my letters and notes have taken me through the year.

I will be on here daily to keep everyone who reads this posted, (bad joke intended) about my trails and tribulations of making the post office richer.

Day one 12/31/2012
Note to my Granny on a pink card with a tiger on it.
